Final Fantasy XI and other stuff

So, yes, I got Final Fantasy XI, and I’ve been playing it. It’s been slow going, as I imagine most MMORPGs are. Here’s a little pictorial representation of a typical day in the life of a level 7 White Mage. (Or course, I’ve since made level 8, but here goes anyway.)

This is Hamusutaa, a level 7 White Mage. Say hello, Hamusutaa.

Oh, you’re showing that rabbit what for, Hamusutaa! You get him!

Oh, too bad, it looks like that itty bitty rabbit kicked your ass and you lost experience and went down to level 6 for the seventh time. Better luck next time!

I really need to get up to level 11 so I can learn Cure II (for some reason not called Cura, but they kept the third cure as Curaga.) I also need better equipment. But more than anything, I just really want to see more of the game than the first field. It’s so pretty, but there’s other pretty places I want to see! I can see how these damn games just suck you in… it’s just paced so slowly.

  1. What server/world/etc are you at? I am on levaithan (sp) as a lv 2 elf named Ikea. I haven’t had a chance to play much when I was doing the beta. Hmm kinda sucks of the world pass system as well .. blarg

Oh yes, if you die like multiple times it seems like it gets harder to level up. I haven’t experiance that now, but the beta was like that. You probally better off just starting over again, also check out http://www.ffixonline.com for tips, tricks and other cool info.

  2. Ah… I gave in Tues. night, hours after running Vana’Diel Bench 2 (And totally passing it) – I’m “Ragnel” on Valefor, a male Hume Warrior. That game is HUGE, based on what I’ve seen so far. (Hmm, wasn’t the warrior in the first chapter of Dragon Warrior IV for NES named “Ragnel?” How ironic, given the insiduious fusion of Square and Enix.)

(And how about they stick up some icons from Enix’s Quintet games for the SNES? What’s so bad about Actraiser, Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia (And Terranigma, the sequel that never made it to the US!), as well as Robotrek? (a.k.a. SlapStick)

It’s ironic how the older you get, the less time you have to just go at it and play. I’ve got games dating back to the Genesis and SNES that I need to finish up. Good luck, adventurer!
