  1. Could have fooled me! I am guessing since it was the weekend when I was in town that it was insane to drive on any of the freeways.. especially when 580 turns into 880 … ugh

  2. From an Angelino perspective… traffic in the bay area is/was not that bad, even at the height of the tech boom. The main problem is the lack of alternative routes, combined with the generally crappy layout of surface streets, magnifies all accidents and snarls out of proportion. If I’m in LA, and there’s an accident, I often have two, three, or sometimes four alternate routes to choose from. I can even choose surface streets to easily bypass. In the bay, the best you ever get is two, and most of the time one or no decent alternates. I blame the geography of the bay – there just isn’t that much room to put up more freeways. There are fewer people in the bay, but they’re crowded into a much less developed road system. My days of driving from San Bruno down to Redwood City on the 280, even at rush hour, were idyllic. None of the bay area freeways come close to the 405 down here, which ‘cept for midnight is always jammed _somewhere_. I love the bay area, but unless you’re doing the SF thing, BART does not come even close to fulfilling my needs. You gotta have a car in California.

  3. Comparing LA to SF traffic is like apples and oranges..!!! 😀

It is all about El Camino Real, San Tomas, Lawarence and Capitol expressway baby! well at least in SJ..

Further up north you go the shittier the options are…ah well 🙁
