Math and music

I did the math. I went back into my amazon.com history and checked to see how much I had spent on shipping in the calendar year of 2004. When I got to April and I had already spent more than $79.95, I knew that Amazon Prime was for me. I also paid for it with my new Amazon Visa, so I got an effective 2% off. I was already getting 1% back in the form of Yahoo! Points on my previous Visa, which I always converted to Amazon.com gift certificates anyway. The Amazon Visa gives 3% back on purchases made on Amazon, so now I can buy anything on Amazon at “3% off and free shipping.”

I finally got my copy of Dai Gassou! Band Brothers in the mail. The only FAQ on gamefaqs.com is pitifully incomplete, it just lists the songs and instruments, and it’s obvious that the guy hadn’t even played it, because there are a few things he doesn’t know about. I managed to “beat” the game, (I got to “Pro” mode) but there’s still the Pro difficulty, which is actually quite challenging. I’m very tempted to actually write a more complete FAQ, but the fact that I only understand a fraction of the Japanese text that’s flying by might make my effort only three-quarters-assed instead of half-assed.

In FFXI, I’ve made it to level 68…. 1/3 of the way to 69. I’m getting close to the fight with Maat, which is something I’ve been dreading ever since I found out about it. I also got invited into an HNMLS, which will mean nothing to most of you, and it’s hard to explain. I haven’t done anything with them yet, I’m still focusing on trying to get to at least level 70.

Not much.

Just because I’m not writing entries doesn’t mean that nothing’s happening.

It just means it’s not worth noting.

I played ICO. Very pretty game, but quite short. It’s weird that now, I own a PS2 game, but don’t actually own a PS2.

I finally got my Scott Kurtz original art in the mail! I was afraid it wouldn’t make it to me because it was shipped to my old address. Fortunately, he sent it regular mail so the mail forward caught it. Maybe I’ll take a picture of it. It’s at home right now… I need to figure out what I’m going to do with it. On that note, I’ve got a few things that I need to get framed… perhaps I should just make a trip to a framing store with a bunch of stuff in-hand.

The weekend

The three day weekend is over. Poopie.

I spent most of yesterday at home trying to shake off a sinus headache which is still lingering, and had to miss ‘s Mini-Q.

Following my weird inclination to play Super Metroid, I played and beat Super Mario World on Saturday and Sunday. I’m now working through Super Mario World 2. Who needs a PS2 when you have an SNES?

I sorted most of my M:tG cards over the course of the weekend. Damnation, I sure have a lot. It’s like gambling… you don’t spend the money to make money, you’re spending it to have fun. And it’s been fun, really it has. I finally won a prize for the first time in a long long time at the game on Friday night.

It’s weekends like these I’m glad I live with other people. Once you reach critical mass, you don’t have to worry about having to go out to be social, the people come to you. Speaking of which, when’s Nati leaving… hmmm…. that boy played waaaaaaaaaaaay too much Everquest this weekend.

Recent discussion about the future of LJ have gotten me thinking that I really should be contributing to the codebase / maintenance… writing web-based applications is something I… well, I get paid to do it, full time. You’d think I could probably have something to contribute.

I still can’t get over the fact that out of three days off, I spent probably a grand total of two hours sitting in front of the computer. Considering that on a typical evening I spend twice that staring at the monitor I consider it a good thing.

Okay, I just looked at my last name and thought it was spelled wrong when it wasn’t. This is a sign that I should go to sleep. Good night…. or maybe I’ll play some more SMW2…

DDR 4th Mix!

Yay Dance Dance Revolution 4th Mix for Playstation is in my hot little hands right now… I know what I’m gonna be doing tonight…

Synchronicity

I just made my first international phone call. I feel so… special.
But anyway, today was very busy, and very odd… I awoke to the very distinct, random and powerful feeling of… dim sum. Not the taste, but the triggered memory of the concept of dim sum. Now this wouldn’t be odd, except for the fact that a bunch of my friends were having dim sum at that exact moment. Of course, you could write that off as subconscious realization, because I knew they were there (and would have been there myself, if I didn’t have band practice at noon). But the weirder part was that later that day, I left a message with one of the people there, and went to practice. After practice, I was driving down the freeway, when I suddenly realized I should check my phone to see if anyone had called me, and as I was reaching for the phone, it rang, and it was her.
Did I develop a low-level day-long psychic link with Nicole? Weird.
I just finished Conker’s Bad Fur Day, and I recommend it to anyone who is of legal age and owns an N64. It’s a short game (only took me 9 hours of gameplay) and parts are rather raunchy, but it’s actually very funny in places and manages to spoof almost every genre you can imagine.
Damn, I’m out of soda again. *sigh*

Another day another dollar

I suppose I should at least write a little about today. It can be summed up in one phrase. “Dammit Jim, I’m an engineer, not a project coordinator!”
*sigh* So I spend all day at work trying to get this project in order, because sometimes it just falls onto the engineer to get everything together, because they’re the last ones who need everything, so if something’s missing, they have to go find it. But only if someone isn’t doing their job. Or in this case, if there isn’t anyone who has that job.
Then I went home and played Phantasy Star Online for the first time with people I actually knew instead of random people from the lobby. And had a blast… I really wanna take some time off and just play PSO all day. Heh heh heh.
And yes, it’s 1:44am and I’m still awake. This does not bode well for waking up tomorrow.
