{"id":173,"date":"2002-01-03T12:57:00","date_gmt":"2002-01-03T20:57:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hamusutaa.com\/blog\/?p=173"},"modified":"2002-01-03T12:57:00","modified_gmt":"2002-01-03T20:57:00","slug":"double-irony","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hamusutaa.com\/blog\/2002\/01\/03\/double-irony\/","title":{"rendered":"Double Irony"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As <a href=http:\/\/www.livejournal.com\/users\/bigdumbthing\/>Luke<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.livejournal.com\/talkpost.bml?itemid=19181685\">mentioned<\/a>, there was a phone call at 4 a.m. notifying me that the webservers I work on were not working.<\/p>\n<p>After about 30 minutes of sleepy-eyed hacking, I figured out the problem (which I later attributed to not one, but <i>two<\/i> bugs in the code that happened to combine together to cause a coredump upon the server restart) and went back to sleep.<\/p>\n<p>The two ironies in this stem from two separate conversations that I just had yesterday:<\/p>\n<p>One was a brief in-passing mention on how stable our servers were with a co-worker.  The other was me complaining to Luke that he could sleep through anything, and I always woke up, in reference to the garbage men.<\/p>\n<p>And then, why is it that it&#8217;s the morning after you get woken up at 4 a.m. (and didn&#8217;t fall back asleep until at least 5:30) that you get a bunch of frantic changes that have to be made by 11 a.m., because the east coast client has to see them?<\/p>\n<p>This is the first time I&#8217;ve been called in the middle of the night.
