Bumps!

So a few people who I’ve seen since getting back from Dragon*Con have already heard me raving about the Dragon*Con TV Bumps. Well, they’re online now! They say it’s all of them, but I seem to recall at least one that wasn’t in the list, perhaps there’s a second batch, or I’m just imagining things.

By far, the best one is this one, but there’s a few really funny ones in there, too.

Muppet Show

Well, I just started watching the Muppet Show episode that aired the day I was born., which is an odd experience. While watching through season one, I noticed they’ve done two songs from Chicago so far, which surprised me, I didn’t know the broadway show was that old, but it was brand new then.

Also, on a related and very hilarious note, while re-reading through Girl Genius today, I noticed that in one scene, sitting on Gil’s workbench is a gorilla detector (with a post-it on it saying “Needs work!”). I just about died laughing, having just seen that episode.

Finally, a company that understands.

For those of you who haven’t already noticed, the Simpson’s Complete Sixth Season DVD Box Set comes in a Homer head, instead of the normal DVD box that the last five did. Included in the box was the following piece of paper:

For all those that fear change…
For all those anal-retentive nerds who like their DVD boxes to line up perfectly on the shelf…

For all those who dislike storing their digital media inside a hollowed-out human head, have we got a deal for you:

Just call 1-800-223-2369 for a very derivative, old-style, just-like-before box with almost nothing new or creative to annoy or terrify you. Enjoy!”

Go ahead and call the number outside of business hours, it’s entertaining. It tells you to either call back during business hours, or go to www.simpsonsbox.com, where you can print out a form and get a replacement box for $2.95 shipping and handling. One of the reasons for requesting the new box is “Anal Retentive (box must be identical).”

They know me.

A very long day

Got up at 4:15 a.m. to leave at 4:45 for what Katie and I thought was a 6:00 flight but was actually a 6:30 flight. It was a good thing we had that extra half an hour, because on the shuttle from long term parking, we stopped for a good ten minutes because some lady wanted to file a complaint that she slipped and fell in the parking lot or something stupid like that that couldn’t wait because she had a 6:30 flight and of course none of the rest of us on the shuttle were in a hurry or anything so we sat at a stop while the driver was on the phone with his supervisor or something.

That’s just 5 a.m…. there’s still 20 hours of this day left.

Network Solutions

I finally renewed my domain name. Then, I realized my address was still my old apartment, so I updated that as well. The problem is that for every change I make, NSI sends not one, not two, not three, but FOUR emails.

1) We received your request, and will be shortly sending you a form to return to us.
2) Here is the form, please make sure everything is correct.
3) We received a form requesting a change, we’re just letting you know, just in case someone is spoofing your account, please verify.
4) We received your verification, thank you.

So I now have 8 emails from them at the bottom of my inbox.

On another, more positive note… I went to Berkeley on Saturday for a Warren Ellis signing. Supposedly his only signing in America this year, although I heard otherwise. I got my three items signed, asked my one question, then went across the street and ate a crepe, then bought some stuff at Games of Berkeley and got back on BART and went home.

Here’s something for you all to look forward to. For the last three days, instead of deleting my spam, I’ve been saving them to a folder. In four more days, I’m going to show the world just how much spam I get in a typical week. Prepare yourself….

Thunderbirds 2086

Well, I watched the Thunderbirds 2086 tape. The contents of the tape weren’t the same as what was on the box, but surprisingly, it was the other two episodes I hadn’t seen.
Unfortunately, they were two of the earlier episodes, so the voice acting was terrible and the editing felt very clunky. *sigh* That’s another of my childhood memories tarnished by the harsh light of reality.
Now I’m gonna watch my Clerks Animated Show DVD for some real quality animation. 😛

Money can buy happiness

So I got the goods from an Ebay auction I won… a Thunderbirds 2086 tape. I paid a whole $10 for this thing completely on faith that it would be something useful. (For those of you who don’t know, TB2086 was a Japanese Animation show brought over to the US and broadcast on cable TV in the early 80’s) Not only is it not a PAL tape (which means I can actually watch it on my VCR) it’s two episodes that I haven’t seen yet! Keep in mind I’ve seen almost all of the episodes (there’s now just one I will haven’t have seen after I watch this tape tonight)… and I used to have them all on tape until I lost one of the two tapes!
So now I’m down to six episodes… 4 recorded from tv, and the two I have now.
Dammit, if only I hadn’t left that tape back at the old house… my housemates probably have recorded over it by now…
