Before I forget

I had a memorable moment in my dream last night:

A group of us (I forget who I was with) were in a small classroom covered with blackboards. We were discussing something, I think having to do with how easy the class was, but in the meantime this one girl was in the back of he room covering one of the blackboards with equations. She had them all almost finished, but then very vocally exclaimed that she must have gotten this one wrong and went back to like the third one she’s written down and erased part of it.

Then gravity turned off and we yelled at her to write back in what she’d written, and then feverently tried to get her to finish the last equation.

Then I thought that was such a good idea for a story that I wrote it down in a notebook. The problem is, I wrote it down in a notebook when I was still inside the dream, which doesn’t really do me any good, huh?

The wonders of spring

Spring brings us many different things:

  1. A heatwave that only lasts one day but is amazingly hot. Opening the windows didn’t cool the house off yesterday because it was still hot out when I got home. So I actually turned the air conditioning temporarily, but by the time the house had cooled down, so had outside. Freakish.
  2. Spring cleaning. We had a party at the house on Saturday, so we needed to clean the middle floor. So of course, in order to get the middle floor clean, we had to make room for some of the stuff that was lying around, which meant cleaning other parts of the house to make room for it, and it kept chaining. The net effect was me reorganizing furniture in my room, buying a new bookshelf and DVD rack, gaining complete use of our kitchen table for the first time in years, seeing the patio floor again, and throwing away so much trash that we couldn’t park one of the cars in the garage over the weekend because the trash took up too much space.
  3. Birds. Graceful and beautiful when observed from a distance in your leisure time. However, they are neither when they are repeatedly running into my bedroom window at 6am every morning for the past week. Like clockwork, this stupid bird keeps flying into my window, waking me up, flying back to his branch or whatever, then flying into my window again for anywhere from two to fifteen minutes. I have no idea why, but it’s driving me crazy and making me all sleep deprived. And on Friday, it interrupted the song and dance number in my dream. With Neil Patrick Harris. I give no explanations for my subconscious.

I hate Tuesdays

For the last few Tuesdays, someone has taken it upon themselves to drag a trash can from one end of the alley behind our house all the way to the other end.

Either they’re just now doing it, or I’m just now noticing it because I’ve been leaving the window open because we finally got around to being less dependent on the A/C… but either way it’s really frigging loud and it always wakes me up.

So Tuesdays suck because I never get enough sleep.

Also, last night I had a dream (or you might say a nightmare) that Nati still hadn’t left yet! The horror!

Once again, I had so many ideas driving to work about what to type into this thing, but I’ve forgotten them all.

AX Wrapup

So Sunday was the last day of AX, and once again I had to wake up for the morning shift. It was quite uneventful, in fact the day was mostly uneventful until the con was almost over.

Once again, our friend the bulleted list:

  • I had a dream Saturday night. I dreamt that I was in a McDonalds, but for some reason the person taking my order was psychic and handed me my order before I even said out loud what it was. I freaked out and ran, and as I got further away from her, I thought to myself “I wonder how far she can reach” and I hear her say “November 23rd!”
  • I must have been fixating on the smells of the soap, but I noticed that the hand soap in the Hyatt’s bathrooms was banana-scented, and the hand soap in the Renessaince’s smelled sweet, and reminded me of a certain weird cookie that i used to eat at Hebrew School. Must be a cross-wired olfactory memory.
  • For some weird reason, when I’m in Southern California, my phone switches from “AT&T” to “ROAM” and back again repeatedly. I have no idea if that means I’m actually not roaming or not…
  • I was introduced to a new concept yesterday: Wine flavored Pocky. I was so surprised that I was running all over the room shoving the Pocky under people’s noses, saying “smell this!”
  • At the very last minute, I was quite surprised when I ran into ElfEater, who said she’d been at the con the whole time. Of course, I hadn’t been hanging out by the DDR machines, which is probably where she was most of the time. 😛

So I think the themes that we take away from this Anime Expo are weird smells, audio clips, lines, walking and rain.

I’ve gotta go to work tomorrow. I don’t wanna go to work tomorrow. I’ve got a week’s worth of email and work awaiting me tomorrow.

And I still have to unpack…

Dream

I just remembered part of my dream last night. Besides the whole “driving the car from the back seat” thing again, at one point I tried smoking a cigar. Now, being that I’ve never smoked, I think my imagination did a pretty good job at approximating the vileness that’s associated with the smell/smoke/etc. Or that could just be my prejudice.
