History repeats itself.

Pep boys just called. When the guy changed my oil last time at the smog check place, he put the wrong oil filter on.

This is the second time this exact same thing has happened! It must have something to do with my car… like there’s a manual out there of Make/Model -> Oil filter type that has an error or a typo or something.

  1. Sometimes a car manufacturer may even change the oil filter number partway thru a model year. I know with my WRX, i not only have to distinguish that its a 2003 vs a 2002,04,05, etc, but that its a model from the LATTER half of 2003 cause they change the filter part no. halfway WTF?

  2. Learn to change the oil yourself. There’s no real cost savings but you’ll get piece of mind knowing some lube monkey isn’t going to screw it up again.
