Lucky me I happened to have a spare.
I certainly hope that was the problem. I’d hate for this to happen again…

Power Supply
I would bet you 10 jury summons that the fan bearing went out. This caused an increasing draw to run the fan and you ended up with a dead machine. This happens to all admins with good uptimes.
It might be worth noting that a power supply failure can cause silent damage to other parts.
If you have mysterious hangs or crashes in the future, it may be a sign that your motherboard got damanged in the blow-out.
